New look and RSS explained

Extra Logo
If you are a frequent visitor you may have noticed that the sidebar has moved from the right to left side on this page. It also remains in a fixed position as you scroll the main content - something I've been trying to accomplish for some time. Occasionally these kind of changes have unforeseen consequences so please let me know if you encounter any display issues and what browser you are using. Also. if you have a strong preference - old vs new layout, let me know.

I've also added a more prominent RSS logo to the sidebar in order to, hopefully, alert you to the fact that Panama Notes is available as a Live Feed. If you're not familiar with "feeds," RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" which summarizes information published on a website and alerts you when a new post (Note) is available.

You will need an RSS reader (if your browser doesn't have one built-in) in order to access the RSS content on Panama Notes. The good news is that many readers are available and most are free. If you need a reader check these:

Once you have installed the software (or registered for the Google Reader) just click on the RSS icon (Subscribe to Panama Notes) in the sidebar and select the appropriate Reader. The Reader will then regularly check for items added to Panama Notes. Believe me, it's not as complicated as it sounds.

For those of you who had already activated a Feed - sorry about all the erroneous notices you received today. It should be back to normal, now that I have stopped fooling with the setup. Thanks for your patience.

Take care.
